Area foodies and seafood lovers will soon be able to dine at a celebrated Charleston seafood restaurant without leaving the city of Columbus. After months of speculation, Hank’s Lowcountry Seafood & Raw Bar confirmed last week on its website that it will open a second location at 6 W Gay St in downtown Columbus this year.

Both the Charleston and Columbus eateries are operated by Makeready, a part of Columbus based investment firm Rockbridge Capital, which acquired the Hank’s brand in 2017. Makeready manages Columbus eateries including Little West Tavern and Brass Eye at The Junto hotel.

According to a press release shared with What Now Columbus, the restaurant’s interior will feature 17 foot ceilings, wood paneling and a hand drawn lowcountry mural by artist Scott Waterman. Adding to the decor will be brass fixtures and arched entryways as well as an outdoor patio that will showcase hand drawn illustrations and a sign proclaiming, “Cool Inside” and “Oyster Bar” by the original Hank’s Charleston artist, David Boatright. The back of the restaurant will feature a private dining room that can seat up to 22 guests that will also include a separate patio entrance.

Diners can enjoy signature dishes found at the Charlerston location like seafood à la wando, jumbo lump crab cocktail and bouillabaisse along with pan-seared daily fresh seafood selections and an innovative cocktail menu.

An exact opening date hasn’t been announced just yet, but according to the press release Hank’s Columbus is aiming to open some time this spring.
